Wolves Travel to Take on Upper Iowa and Winona State in Conference Action

– The Northern State University softball team will continue NSIC action on the road this weekend against Upper Iowa and Winona State. The Wolves are coming off of a 1-3 week, after dropping two games to the University of Mary and splitting with MSU Moorhead. The Wolves are currently 19-25 overall and 9-11 in conference action.
 
Macey Engel led the Wolves offensively this week, collecting five base hits and two doubles in 14 at bats to extend her hitting streak to 11-games. The senior continues to stay atop the team statistically with 29 RBIs and six homeruns. In the lead-off position, Kelsey Gale has maintained a team-high .359 batting average with 46 hits on the year.
 
From the mound, both Jamie Fisher and Missy Elkins have held opponents to 2.86 and 2.92 earned runs respectively. Fisher has earned seven wins and recorded 76 strikeouts in 120.0 innings pitched, while Elkins has collected three complete game shutouts and held opponents to a .262 batting average.
 
Defensively, NSU has compiled a .961 fielding percentage in their 44 games this season.
 
Northern State will take on Upper Iowa at 1 and 3 p.m. on Saturday and face Winona State at 1 and 3 p.m. on Sunday.
