Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University softball team will compete in a pair of double-headers this weekend on the road against Wayne State and Augustana University. The Wolves currently hold a 2-4 record in the conference, and are 12-18 overall in the 2016 season.
Northern State took down Southwest Minnesota State last Saturday to notch their two NSIC victories, however, fell most recently to St. Cloud State. This Tuesday the Wolves put up a fight against the Huskies, but dropped game one 4-7 and game two 2-6.
Kelsey Gale continues to excel for NSU offensively as the senior holds an 11-game hitting streak, with a team-high batting average of .386. Gale also leads NSU starters defensively, maintaining a .982 fielding percentage with 62 assists.
As a unit, the NSU pitching staff has held opponents to 3.32 earned runs per game, tallying 92 strikeouts in their 30 total games.
The Wolves will take on Wayne State at 1 and 3 p.m. on Saturday and face Augustana University at 12 and 2 p.m. on Sunday.
