Tucson, Ariz. – In their seventh day of action from Tucson, the Northern State University baseball team fell to both No. 2 St. Cloud State and Dakota State University. The Wolves fell 11-1 to the Huskies and 12-7 to the Trojans, dropping to 5-4 overall this season.
 
Game 1 – No. 2 St. Cloud State
 
The Wolves scored first in the opening inning of play off the bat of Matt Stubbs. Stubbs scored Preston Brown who had singled to lead off the game. St. Cloud State answered with a run of their own in the third and the two team's remained tied until the seventh inning of action, where the Huskies broke the game open with four runs and another six in the eighth.
 
Northern combined for eight hits in the game, however gave up two errors on defense. Stubbs led the team with two hits extending his hit streak to nine games. Also recording hits in the game were Brown, Tyler Gripentrog, Jack Schmidt, Easton Lopez, and Mikey Barreneche.
 
Nick Hoffard started for the Wolves, throwing 6.1 innings of action. Hoffard gave up four earned runs on six hits. Kris Johnson entered in relief for 1.2 innings to close out the game. Johnson face 14 batters, giving up five hits and six earned runs.
 
Game 2 – Dakota State
 
Northern looked to bounce back in game two of the day, however struggled to battle back from a seven point deficit in the first two innings of play. The Wolves battled with four runs in the second and third, however one run in the top of the fourth, sealed the victory for the Trojans.
 
Mikey Barreneche led the NSU offense going a perfect 4-for-4 in the game. Barreneche added one RBI followed by Jack Schmidt and Matt Stubbs with three hits, two runs scored, and an RBI apiece. Lucas Lorenz was the final Wolf to record a multiple hit outing with two including one run scored and one RBI. Ben Allen, Ashton Williamson, Patrick Leary, and Kolin Kubitz tallied the team's final hits in the game.
 
Barreneche notched two extra base hits with both a double and a triple, while Schmidt and Stubbs connected for doubles and Lorenz ran out a triple. Tyler Gripentrog was key on the base paths, leading the team with two stolen bases.
 
NSU out hit DSU 16-to-15 in the loss however gave up three unearned runs on two errors. Five members of the NSU pitching staff took to the mound, with Cody Vandever making the start. Vandever threw two complete innings giving up seven earned runs on nine hits and striking out four. Andrew Nichols suffered the loss, giving up three runs, one earned, on three hits in 2.2 innings pitched. Dillon Lee and Luke Chevalier combined for seven strikeouts in the final 2.1 innings of play.
