Score SheetChadron, Neb. – The Northern State University wrestling team fell to Chadron State College 28-19 in non-conference road action. The Wolves tallied four victories in the dual, however drop to 5-12 overall this season.
The Wolves entered the 141-pound down 8-0.
Matt Bettencourt started the scoring for the Wolves defeating Joshua Miller by fall at 5:48 in the match. Bettencourt led throughout the match tallying ten points to Miller's two.
Tyler Stenberg continued the scoring for NSU with a victory by fall of his own to capture the lead. Stenberg pinned Clayton Steinmetz at 3:51 in the match not before scoring 18 points of his own. Northern then led 12-8 heading into the final six weights of the dual.
Blake Perryman added to the NSU win streak defeating Jonny Porter in a 4-3 decision. They were scoreless through the first period and Porter jumped out to a 1-0 lead with an escape to start of the second. Perryman matched with a takedown and then captured the victory late in the third period.
Joe Gomez tallied Northern's final victory of the dual, defeating Stuart Hircock at 197-pounds. Gomez took a 2-1 lead in the first period and continued his attack to take home the 10-2 major decision victory. Gomez recorded four takedowns and one escape in the victory.
Northern returns to the mat next Thursday at home versus Minnesota State at 7 p.m. from Wachs Arena. The Wolves will then wrestle their final home dual of the season on Saturday the 13
th versus Dickinson State.
