Pre-NSU: Tyler is a college transfer from Muskegon Community College. For the Jayhawks, Stenberg wrestled to a record of 47-13 overall and 12-2 in dual action. As a freshmen, Tyler earned All-American status at 149 pounds, finishing sixth in the nation. He then went on to go 31-7 as a sophomore, with nine falls and a national tournament appearance. Tyler continues to hold school records at Reeths Puffer High School for best freshmen records and most three-point near falls. He finished high school with a 155-22 record and 88 career pins. Stenberg was All-State his final two seasons, finishing fifth at 130 pounds and third at 140 pounds.
