Score SheetAberdeen, S.D. – In their first home dual of 2016, the Northern State University wrestling team fell to Upper Iowa 34-16. The Wolves drop to 5-8 overall and 0-2 in the NSIC in duals this season.
Tyler Stenberg tallied the first, non-forfeit, victory of the night over Damian Penichet. Stenberg came out of the gates scoring ultimately defeating Penichet in a 15-6 major decision. The junior took a quick 10-2 lead in the opening period and did not look back. Stenberg added two points in the second, and two in the third in the victory.
Joe Gomez notched the Wolves second and final victory of the match over Ryan Parmely. Gomez and Parmely battled through the first period with a scoreless tie throughout. Gomez tallied six points in the second, going right at Parmely. Gomez took down Parmley early in the third period and won by fall at 6:02 in the match.
The Wolves will be back in action tomorrow from Wachs Arena, as the No. 2 St. Cloud State Huskies come to town. Wrestling is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
