Joe Gomez, of Northern State University wrestling, is headed to the NCAA Wrestling National Tournament in St. Louis, MO. The two day National Tournament takes place March 13
th and 14
th.
After going 3-2 on the weekend at the NCAA Super Regionals, Gomez garnered a national tournament berth. Joe began the meet with a 9-6 decision win over Upper Iowa's Dylan Windfield. Gomez then fell to Jayd Docken of Augustana College. Gomez then entered the backend of the bracket, tallying decision victories over Tom DeVito, of University of Mary, and VJ Giulio, of St. Cloud State. Gomez ultimately dropped the third place match in his second face-off with Docken. With the finish Gomez was also named to the All-NSIC First Team.
Blake Perryman was the other NSU grappler to advance to the second day of competition. After dropping his first match of the meet, Blake came back with victories over Daniel Murakami, of MSU Moorhead, and Dexter Carter, Ouachita Baptist. Perryman ended the regional with a 2-2 record, falling in his opening match of day two.
As a team the Wolves finished in 12
th place, with 11.5 points.
