Box Score Sioux Falls, S.D. – The Northern State University women's basketball team dropped their second straight game of the weekend to University of Sioux Falls 51-58 on the road. Northern drops to 15-3 overall, and 9-3 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play.
The Wolves led 26-22 at the half, however feel behind giving up 36 Cougar scores in the final 20 minutes of play. NSU shot a season low 32.3 percent from the floor and gave up 14 buckets from behind the arch for 42 Cougar points. Northern notched only two points off turnovers, while Sioux Falls connected for 14 in the game.
Three pointers made the difference in the game as the Wolves recorded only three off the backs of Waytashek and Brecke. The Wolves out-rebounded the Cougars 49-37, however connected for only nine second chance points.
Megan Mutchler led the Wolves with 12 points and seven rebounds, while both
Devon Brecke and
Sadie Stotesbery notched 11 and ten points respectively. Stotesbery added nine rebounds, while Brecke notched three.
Rachel Krogman led the team with 13 rebounds in the game, alongside nine points.
Paige Waytashek and
Lauren Deadrick were the final point scorers for the Wolves with eight and one in the game.
Northern will return home next weekend for contests with Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston. Northern will tip-off with the Beavers Friday at 6 p.m., while game time is set with the Golden Eagles Saturday at 5 p.m. from Wachs Arena.
