The Northern State baseball team's four-game series with Minnesota Duluth has been shifted to Friday and Saturday and will now be played in Redfield on Friday and Saturday out at Fossum Field. Games will be played Friday at around 2:30 p.m., with Saturday's games yet to be determined, but will be played late in the afternoon. The series was originally scheduled for Saturday and Sunday up in Duluth.
UMD enters the weekend with a record of 14-19 overall and are 10-13 in the NSIC, putting them in ninth place. Northern is 21-14 overall and is 14-10 in league play which is sixth in the league. The top eight teams in the standings will make the NSIC Tournament in May. NSU is currently .5 game back of Winona State and Wayne State in the league standings and is a game back of Concordia-St. Paul for fifth.
The Bulldogs are led by a trio of solid hitters as Beau Goff (.324), Cody Aasen (.322) and Alex Wojciechowski (.322) lead the team in batting with a minimum of 50 at-bats. Aasen and Wojciechowski lead the team with 21 RBI each. Kyle Comer leads the Bulldogs with five home runs on the season and is second with a .510 slugging percentage.
Pitching wise, UMD is led by Grant Farley's 1.59 ERA in 11.1 innings of work out of the bullpen. Bo Hellquist leads the team with 44 innings logged and has a 3.27 ERA and 3-4 record on the year. In all, 11 different players have started a game this season for Duluth.
Northern has won 12 of its last 16 games overall and looks to continue its winning ways at home. So far this season, the Wolves are 11-4 at home on the year.
Matt Stubbs continues to lead NSU with a .380 batting average on the season. Stubbs leads the Wolves in almost every major offensive category this season. Currently there are four starters for Northern batting over .300 on the year (
