Live StatsThe Northern State baseball team begins an important week of NSIC games on Tuesday when Winona State comes to Fossum Field for a midweek doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Tuesday's games will be the first of six conference tilts this week for the Wolves.
NSU's 10-game winning streak was snapped over the weekend by eighth-ranked Minnesota State. The Mavericks came to Aberdeen and swept the Wolves dropping Northern's record to 19-14 overall and 12-10 in league play. The Wolves are currently in eighth-place in the league, 2.5 games ahead of Southwest Minnesota for the final spot in the NSIC Tournament in May.
The Warriors are currently 16-17 overall on the season and 13-8 in conference play. WSU is led by Tyler Nehring's strong bat as he is currently sixth in the league with a .429 batting average in league games and has hit .419 for the entire season. Nehring also has seven home runs and 35 RBI on the season while teammate Travis Evanson has 10 long balls and 30 RBI.
For the Winona pitching staff, the Warriors are led by Will Lundquist's 5-0 record and 1.97 ERA. Both Lundquist and teammate Chase Blazier lead the team with two complete games each on the year. Blazier has a 5-2 record on the season and an ERA of 2.80.
NSU looks to break out of its mini slump that it is currently in. The Wolves are still led by
Matt Stubbs .385 batting average on the season. Stubbs is one of four Northern starters that has a better than .300 average on the season.
Probable starters on Tuesday for the Wolves are
Colton Boucher and
Cody Johns. Boucher has won four consecutive starts for Northern and is 5-2 on the season with a 4.30 ERA. Johns leads the team with a 2.40 ERA and is 3-2 this season with two complete games. Boucher has five complete games this season.
