Softball Set for Ten Games in the Sunshine State

Aberdeen, S.D. - The Northern State University softball team is on the road headed to Winter Haven, Fla. for the 2014 Rebel Spring Games. The Wolves will play ten games in six days to open thier season in 80 degree weather. One weekend ago NSU was to travel to the Missouri Southern Tournament however games were cancelled due to snow and poor weather. 

Saturday March 8th

The Wolves will begin the day, and open the 2014 season, against Ferris State at 9 a.m. (please note that all game times are central standard time). This will also be the season opener for Ferris. 

NSU will then match-up against Wayne State University out of Michigan at 11 a.m.. The Warriors are 9-1 thus far in 2014 with wins against NSIC opponents Upper Iowa and Winona State. WSU is tied for 13th in the most recent NFCA national rankings. 

Sunday March 9th

Northern will begin the day at 11 a.m. against Ohio Dominican. The Panthers are 1-7 overall on the year and will play four games before their match-up with the Wolves. 

Hillsdale College will be the next opponents for the Wolves at 1 p.m. on Sunday. The contest will mark the first game of the season for the Chargers. 

Monday March 10th

Play will begin early for Northern State as they match-up against LIU Post at 8 a.m. from Winter Haven. The Pioneers will have played three games in the tournament thus far with a match-up against Minnesota State the previous day. Currently the Pioneers are ranked 10th in the NFCA Top 25 Coaches Poll. Northern fans can connect to the LIU live stat stream from the schedule page for up to date game action.

The final game before a day off will match NSU up against Less-McRae College out of North Carolina. Game time is set for 10 a.m. between the two teams. The Bobcats are 3-14 on the year with three more scheduled games before their contest with the Wolves. 

Wednesday March 12th 

Northern will begin the morning with an 8 a.m. match-up against Southern Indiana. The Screaming Eagles are 4-1 this season and will play six games before facing off against the Wolves. 

The second game of the day will being a 12 p.m. contest against Maryville College. The Saints are 2-4 this season and will play five games prior to the match-up. 

Thursday March 13th 

Northern will begin their final day of competition  at 10 a.m. against Adelphi University. The Panthers will also begin their 2014 season from the Rebel Spring Games. The match-up with the Wolves will mark their final game in sunny Florida. 

The Wolves will wrap up the 2014 Rebel Spring Games against University of Indianapolis. Game time is set for 1 p.m. against the two teams. The Chargers are 4-4 this season and will play their final game in Florida against NSU.
