Aberdeen, S.D. - The three Northern State University seniors on the softball team finished their home careers with a win from Swisher field. The Wolves split on the day with NSIC opponent St. Cloud State University. Prior to today's games the Huskies sat in ninth place in the conference standings with NSU close behind in tenth. The Wolves ended the day with an 18-20 record on the year and 10-10 in the league as SCSU moved to 27-20 overall and 14-8 in the loop.
Game one ended in favor of the Huskies as they scored three runs and held the Wolves to just one team hit from senior

After a quick break honoring the seniors, the Wolves were in new form from the plate notching ten hits and three earned runs to defeat the visiting Huskies. NSU starter
Kami Smesmo threw seven innings of play to record her tenth win on the year. The Huskies connected for seven hits and only one earned run off Smesmo, as she struck out four in the process.
Down by one going into the bottom of the second,
Macey Engel homered to center for her third of the year tying it up at one all.
Morgan Schultz and
Lindsey Hubler both reached base safely in the inning, doubling to center and recording a bunt single, however neither were able to score.
NSU attacked again in the fourth to take the lead in the game and ensure the win. Lead off batter
Jordin Novak was placed on first base being hit by a Kendra Merritt pitch. Recording her seventh double of the season,
Kelsey Gale crushed a ball to right advancing Novak to third in the play. With her second hit of the day Moran scored Novak on a one out single through the left side. The final run of the inning came off the bat of
Kelsey Robling as she flew out to the right fielder, scoring the tagging Gale from third base.
Eight Wolves recorded hits in the effort with Engel and Gale each connecting for two a piece. NSU currently sits in 11th place in the conference looking to post a bid into the NSIC tournament starting a week from today. The top ten teams at the end of the regular season will make the trip Rochester.
