The Northern State volleyball team fell Saturday afternoon in a pivotal match to Augustana on the road. Set scores went 25-22, 25-18 and 25-18. The Wolves' record drops to 20-5 overall and 13-5 in the NSIC.
The Vikings, who sit one spot ahead of Northern in the regional rankings, hit .405 for the match, their second-highest mark of the season. NSU hit .231 in the loss.
Kelsey Chambers and
Jussy Tuscherer led the Wolves with 12 kills each. Tuscherer also tied for the team lead with 12 digs giving Tuscherer her second double-double of the weekend.
Tori Biach,
Macey Finizio and
Cari McGarvie all added seven kills in the match. Biach led NSU with three block assists.
The back row of
Sami Nygaard and
Renee Hoffman each had solid matches for the Wolves. Hoffman, along with Tuscherer led the team with 12 digs in the match. Nygaard ended with 11 digs. Setter
Drew Smith recorded 43 assists (14.33 per set), nine digs and a block Saturday.
Northern failed to record a service ace in the loss while Augustana ended with five aces. Augie also had eight total blocks to Northern's three as a team.
Northern finishes the regular season next weekend with a pair of home matches. Sioux Falls comes to town Nov. 15 for a 6 p.m. match while No. 8 Southwest Minnesota comes to Wachs Arena Nov. 16 for a 5 p.m. contest.
