No. 23 Volleyball Makes Quick Work of Minnesota State

For the second time this season the Northern State volleyball team has won nine-straight matches as the 23rd-ranked Wolves picked up their 13th sweep of the season Friday night as they defeated Minnesota State for the second time this season. Set scores went 25-10, 25-15 and 25-17. The nine-match streak is the second-longest streak in program history.

The Wolves were led by Jussy Tuscherer who had career-highs with 15 kills and a .609 hitting percentage. Tuscherer also had 13 digs as she registered her third double-double of the season.

Kelsey Chambers added 12 kills for Northern (19-3, 12-3 NSIC) and also had an ace and three total blocks in the win. Tori Biach added seven kills and two blocks while Macey Finizio had six kills and led NSU with a pair of service aces.

Drew Smith had a great match as she recorded 40 assists. It is the 14th time this season that Smith has had 40 or more assists in a match. Sami Nygaard and Renee Hoffman had eight and six digs, respectively for the Northern back row.

Northern hit .337 in the win while holding the Mavericks to just a .036 attack percentage. NSU dominated the match as it trailed just once in the three sets, when MSU had a 2-1 lead in the second set.

The Wolves will play their second road match of the weekend Saturday in a 4 p.m. showdown with No. 1 Concordia-St. Paul.
