Wolves Drop Match to Augustana

The Northern State volleyball team was swept Friday evening by Augustana inside Wachs Arena. Set scores went 25-21, 25-15 and 25-22. The loss drops Northern's conference record back to .500 at 3-3, the Wolves are now 10-3 overall on the season. The loss snaps a five-match home winning streak for the Wolves.

Drew Smith had a solid match from her setter position for NSU. Smith picked up her third double-double of the season has she tallied 34 assists and a season-high 14 digs in the loss. Kelsey Chambers once again led the Wolves' offensive attack has she totaled 15 kills on the evening and finished with 9 digs.

Tori Biach and Macey Finizio each added six kills on the night, while Cari McGarvie and Jussy Tuscherer chipped in with five kills apiece. Tuscherer also led the Wolves with 15 digs in the match which sets a new career-high. It is the third consecutive double-digit digs match for Tuscherer. Meanwhile, McGarvie led the team with one solo and one block assist against the Vikings.

The defensive specialist duo of Sami Nygaard and Renee Hoffman added 14 and 13 digs, respectively for Northern. The 13 digs ties a career-high for Hoffman.

For the match, the Wolves were out-hit .297 to .164. Augustana also hit .345 and .311 in sets two and three to take control of the match.

Northern returns to action Saturday as 10th-ranked Wayne State comes to town. Match is set to begin at 7 p.m. Fans that bring their ticket stub from the football game will gain free admission to the match.
