CROOKSTON, Minn. – After splitting the first day of the two-day, four-game series on Saturday, the Northern State Wolves bounced back with a Sunday sweep of the host Minnesota, Crookston Golden Eagles to take the season series three games to one. The Wolves claimed a 3-1 win in the opener, then rallied for an 8-3 win in ten innings in the series finale.
The sweep moves NSU to 8-13 overall and 3-5 in league play while the Golden Eagles slipped to 7-13 on the season and 2-6 in the loop.
NSU starter
Clint Manzo scattered seven hits over seven innings and allowed just one run while striking out four in his complete-game outing. Manzo also picked up his first win of the season.
The Wolves spotted Manzo an early 2-run lead on RBI singles from
Robbie Rocamora and

Brent Lawrence RBI single.
The Wolves continued their day with a pair of big innings in Game 2. NSU again took an early lead in the third, pushing three runs across the plate. The Golden Eagles rallied to tie the game in the bottom of the eighth, and a scoreless ninth sent the games into extra innings.
The Wolves took advantage right away in their half of the tenth, using two hits, a 2-run error and an RBI sacrifice bunt to push the go-ahead and four insurance runs across the plate and open up an 8-3 lead.
Junior
Buddy Traxler then made his first pitching appearance of the season to shut down the Golden Eagles in the bottom of the inning. Traxler, who started the game at catcher, allowed a walk and a double, but struck out the next batter and induced a game-ending ground-out to preserve the NSU win.
