WAYNE, Neb. –
The Northern State University Wolves had the thirteenth-ranked Wayne State Wildcats in a 13-10 hole early in Friday night's action, but could not fend off a late Wildcat rally, as WSC scored the final ten points of the opening set, fended off the Wolves in set number two and came away with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-23, 25-19) win over the Wolves in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference volleyball action.

With the loss, the Wolves dropped to 6-5 overall and 1-3 in NSIC play.  All three losses have come to nationally ranked opponents, WSC being the lowest ranked of the three.  The Wildcats improved to 9-3 overall and 2-1 in league action.

After letting the opening set slip away, the Wolves matched the Wildcats point-for-point in the second set, even holding a 15-10 lead before WSC again rallied to tie the set at 19-all.  The Wolves took advantage of a Carli Peterson kill and a Wildcat attacking error to tie it again at 23-all, but back-to-back kills from the Wildcats gave them the set win and a 2-0 edge in the match score.

NSU held the early lead in the third set but again could not hold off a Wildcat rally.  WSC pulled away from a 17-15 advantage and distanced itself through the late going to take the set and match victory.

NSU was led by senior Konefesi Vaisigano, who had 13 kills and 13 digs.  Peterson added nine kills, while junior libero Ella Campbell led four players in double digit digs with 19.

WSC's Mindy Moody tallied 11 kills and a match-best .476 attacking percentage to pace the Wildcats.  Tali Fredrickson added 10 kills, while Leigh Connot registered 27 digs defensively.  The Wildcats notched 88 digs and eight team blocks to keep the Wolves to a .103 attack percentage at the net.

NSU remains on the road to take on Augustana on Saturday afternoon in another NSIC match-up.  First serve is set for 4 p.m. in the Elmen Center.
