CARLOS, Minn. -
The Northern State University fell victim to a no-hit bid from St. Cloud State sophomore Scot Lieser on Wednesday, dropping a 10-0 decision to the Huskies in a rain-soaked Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference match-up.

Game two of the scheduled doubleheader was canceled, leaving the Wolves at 11-19 overall and 9-13 in Northern Sun play.  SCSU, the top-ranked team in the NCAA Central Region, improved to 29-8 overall and 17-6 in league games.

Lieser worked around a slight jam in the second inning, hitting Zach Miller to lead off the inning and walking Jose Figueroa two batters later.  Both players moved up and into scoring position on a Jack Thompson bunt, but Lieser notched one of his 10 strikeouts on the day to end the inning.

Lieser also worked around two Husky errors that put NSU runners on base in the first and seventh innings.  Both runners were stranded in scoring position.

For their part, the Huskies scored at least one run in all six of their at bats, including an unearned run in the second.  The outburst included a pair of two-run innings and a three-run sixth, as the Huskies used eight hits, five walks and two Northern State errors to round out their offense.

NSU's Sean Winslow was tagged with the loss for the Wolves, going four innings and allowing five runs while racking up the Wolves' lone two strikeouts of the night.

NSU remains on the road for a four-game series at Concordia-St. Paul on Saturday and Sunday before returning home the following weekend to host Upper Iowa in the final series of the regular season.
