Michael Cross' 3-for-3, 2-run, 3-RBI effort, backed him up as the Wolves raced to a 7-1 victory over Southwest Minnesota State on Thursday in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference baseball action.
The win extended the Wolves' win streak to five, their longest in more than a decade. NSU now stands at 8-17 overall and 7-10 in conference play. SMSU fell to 9-15 on the year and 5-8 in league games.
Winslow, who picked up his second straight victory and his third in the last four outings, allowed just one run in the second inning and sat the Mustangs down in order in four of the seven innings of work.
Meanwhile, the Wolves' offense went to work from the start and scored runs in all but two innings. Cross' effort in the lead-off slot led a 12-hit team performance.
Jack Thompson was also 2-for-2 with an RBI sacrifice bunt as part of a 3-run NSU fourth inning.
Game two of Thursday's scheduled doubleheader was called off after the first inning due to rain. That game will not be made up.
The Wolves are now slated to take on Bemidji State in a 4-game series on Friday and Saturday. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. on Friday.
