BOX SCORE

ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University baseball squad squandered a 7-1 lead through the first four innings and allowed a 12-run top of the fifth to Valley City State in falling to the Vikings by a final of 28-10 in a nonconference game Wednesday at Fossum Field in Aberdeen, S.D.

The loss drops the Wolves to 5-33 on the year.

The Wolves jumped out early with a three-run first inning and held tough through the next three innings to grab a 7-1 advantage, but the floodgates opened in the fifth as the Vikings recorded 12 runs with help from four NSU errors.

The Wolves could not rebound from the devastating inning in only recording five hits the rest of the way.

Kyle Nemec led the team with a 2-4 effort at the plate, including his first home run of the season.  He scored once and recorded two RBI, both coming off his dinger in the third inning.

Kai Alexander went 1-1 at the plate with a two-run shot to right center in the eighth inning.

The Wolves will look to rebound this weekend when they host St. Cloud State in a four-game home stand on Saturday and Sunday.

Northern State University is an NCAA Division II affiliated school participating in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and is located in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
