ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University volleyball squad and head coach Lisa Schriver invite NSU fans to the team's annual Spike For A Cure match on Wednesday, as the Wolves take on the University of Mary in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action.

The Wolves will have a variety of activities going throughout the day to raise money and awareness for the cancer patients.  Prior to the match, four hair stylists from the Aberdeen community will be on hand to provide men's hair cuts for a free will donation by appointment only.  Len Ivey (The Ives for Hair), Teri Mach (The Cutting Edge), Brenda Aesoph and Kelly Kampa (both from Salon Remix) will be on hand starting at 3 p.m.  All four will be donating their time and proceeds to the cause.

The Wolves will also be selling raffle tickets to win various prizes, while the on-campus Saving Second Base Relay for Life team is selling t-shirts.  NSU Residence Life, which has been actively promoting both breast cancer awareness and on-campus involvement, will also hold their final A.W.E.S.O.M.E. program prize giveaways at Wednesday's match.  Students in the residence halls have had opportunities to attend various tie-dye socials to help “pink out” the NSU campus and gym.

NSU volleyball players have also decorated pumpkins, which will be on display for voting.  The team with the most “votes” ($1 equals 1 vote) wins.  The pumpkins will be given away following the match.

Fans are encouraged to wear pink throughout the day and to the match in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  The Wolves will recognize cancer survivors and remember those who have passed away with a short announcement during the break between sets two and three.

First serve for the match is set for 7 p.m. in Wachs Arena.
