NSIC RELEASE
ST. PAUL, Minn. – The office of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference announced their preseason baseball standings and awards Friday, and Northern State was picked to finish 13th in the conference.
Defending NSIC tournament champions Minnesota State was picked to finish first. The Mavericks garnered seven of the possible 12 first-place votes they could receive, and just edged out defending NSIC regular season champion Wayne State by two first-place votes and three total votes.
Junior
Lucas Jung (Aberdeen, S.D.) and senior
James Paul (Paynesville, Minn.) were tabbed as Northern State players to watch this season.
Wayne State's
Joe Wendte was named NSIC Preseason Player of the Year after earning the regular season award a year ago.
Southwest Minnesota State's
Adam Schrader was named NSIC Preseason Pitcher of the Year by the league's coaches.
