SIOUX FALLS, S.D.
– The Northern State University baseball squad closed out a season plagued by bad weather Sunday in Sioux Falls, S.D. by losing to the Augustana Vikings by final scores of 10-2 and 16-2 in a doubleheader.  The Wolves said goodbye to seniors Brock Pashen, Aaron Kappes, Andrew Lunsetter, Tom Keiser, Mitch Locke, Dustin Harvey, and Nick Wallentiny, all of which played their last games in a Wolves' uniform.

With the losses the Wolves close out the year with a final record of 9-31 and a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference record of 1-23.

Austin Simons led the Wolves' offensive attack in the first game, going 3-3 with a double and a run scored in being a part of a little less than half of the Wolves' seven hits.  Dillon Talley went 1-3 with an RBI double in the sixth inning to score Simons.

Nathan Zacher took the loss on the mound after surrendering 10 runs (nine earned) on 10 hits in four innings of work.  He also walked four and struck out four Augie batters.  James Martin pitched two innings of scoreless relief allowing two hits over the span.

The second game didn't fare any better for the Wolves, as the Augie bats got going early and often in pounding 14 hits and 16 runs while being helped by four Northern State errors.

Lucas Jung took the loss, allowing 10 runs (eight earned) in ten hits in four innings.  Jung also walked two batters in the game.  Jon Bitz and Rob Smith each threw an inning of relief.

The Wolves were led at the plate by senior Aaron Kappes who put both Northern runs on the board in the fifth inning with a two-run homer down the left field line.  Kappes went 1-3 with a run scored and the afore mentioned two runs batted in.  Fellow senior Andrew Lunsetter went 1-3 with a run scored that came on Kappes' two-run shot.
