SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Playing outside for just the second time this season, the Northern State University tennis squad dropped a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference matches on Tuesday.  The matches were held more than a week later than originally scheduled, as the original date (April 4) was wiped out by a spring snow storm.

The Wolves started off the day with an 8-1 loss to the host Augustana Vikings.  Sophomore Kelsey Lonning garnered the Wolves' lone win on the day, taking a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles.  Bridget Henderson battled through a tough match at No. 5 singles before falling in a heartbreaker, 2-6, 6-2, 10-8.

Sophomore Amanda Lee also put up a tough fight at No. 6 singles, but dropped the 6-4, 6-1 decision to Augustana's Sarah Lamberty.  The Vikings then went on to sweep the doubles competition to post the 8-1 victory.

Things did not get any easier for the Wolves, as they then had to face Winona State, who entered the day sitting in second place in the NSIC standings.  The Warriors, who had just one loss entering the day's competition, was able to get the upper hand in the close matches and ultimately claimed the 9-0 win.

The Wolves will now return home to host Southwest Minnesota State on Saturday in the regular season finale.  Due to weather conditions earlier in the year, the match will be NSU's only home match of the season.  First serve for that contest is slated for 1 p.m. at the Jerde Tennis Courts.
