WINONA, Minn.  –
The Northern State University Wolves battled hard against 13th ranked Winona State, but it was the Warriors who came out on top, taking a pair of wins by final scores of 3-0 and 9-1 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference softball action on Saturday.

The games were the conference openers for both squads.  NSU fell to 3-14 overall and 0-2 in the conference, while the Warriors improved to 22-5 on the year and 2-0 in league action, running their win streak to eight games in the process.

Freshman Brittany Huback accounted for the Wolves' only hit and run of the day, blasting her first home run of the season in the top of the fourth inning of Game 2.

The Warriors, meanwhile, put together a 6-hit, 3-run effort in Game 1 and another nine runs on nine hits in the nightcap.  Sophomore hurler Stacey Struzynski recorded 16 strikeouts while walking just one batter in the opening contest.

NSU will take the field again on Saturday with another NSIC doubleheader at Upper Iowa.  First pitch is slated for noon.
