NSIC RELEASE
THE GAME: The Northern State Wolves will south on I-29 for their final game of the 2009 season, their first at Kirkeby-Over Stadium, and their second appearance in the
Ethanol Bowl when they take on Augustana College at 1:00 p.m. in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Gene Reich will handle the play-by-play on both 94.1 KSDN-FM “The Rock“ and 930 KSDN-AM.

THE MATCHUP: Augustana is currently 7-3 overall and 6-3 in the NSIC, and 4-2 in the South Division. They were picked to finish 3rd in the conference and second in the South Division prior to the 2009 season.
The Wolves are 2-8 overall, 2-7 in the NSIC, and 2-4 in the North Division. They were picked to finish 11th in the NSIC by the league's coaches and tied for fifth in the North Division prior to the 2009 campaign.
SERIES HISTORY: Augustana has dominated the all-time series with a 24-5-1 record against the Wolves. Saturday's matchup will mark the 31st meeting between the two schools in a series that started in 1924. Augustana beat Northern Normal and Industrial School 6-0 in the first matchup between the two schools.
Northern State head coach
Chris Boden is 0-4 all-time against the Vikings, including a 43-7 loss last year in Aberdeen.
The Vikings are 9-1 in the last ten meetings, with the Wolves only win coming by a 24-21 final in 2003.
The Vikings won the first ever Ethanol Bowl last year by a 43-7 final in Aberdeen.

JARK EYES HISTORY BOOKS: Senior wide receiver and Aberdeen native
Brian Jark etched his name into the Northern State record books on September 5th against Winona State, becoming the school's all-time leading receiver with 218 career receptions. He has since then added 24 more receptions to bring his career total to 242.
He trails Logan Masters of Wayne State by one reception heading into the last game for the all-time NSIC lead in that category after passing Damien Hoffman of Minnesota-Morris (1997-2001) three weeks ago vs. the University of Mary for 2nd all-time. With his six receiving yards in Northern State's loss to Minnesota-Duluth he surpassed the 2,000 yard plateau for NSIC receiving yards and now has 2,182 yards receiving in conference play. With his eight receptions in Northern State's loss to SMSU, Jark went over the 200-reception plateau for his NSIC career.

LET ME 'TREL YA SOMETHIN': Northern State running back
Montrel Richardson continues to be the main catalyst for the Northern State offense and now has 1,585 all-purpose yards on the season, with an average of 158.5 yards per game.
The biggest chunk of that has come on the ground where the speedy junior has churned out 852 yards through ten games, an average of 85.2 per game and a 5.9 yards per carry average.
He also leads the team in scoring with 42 points, coming off of seven touchdowns.
He scored three of those touchdowns against Minnesota, Crookston, getting into the end zone twice on the ground and once through the air.
His signature game of the season was on the road against Upper Iowa where he notched 289 all-purpose yards (157 rushing) including a 90-yard kickoff return touchdown and 47-yard touchdown scamper
He matched that performance a week later with another 289 all-purpose yard performance, including notching 174 rushing yards against St. Cloud State.
He's currently 4th in the NSIC with 798 in-conference rushing yards (88.7 per game) and third in all-purpose yards (1,486) and all-purpose yards per game (165.1).
I GOT FIVE ON IT: Junior captain wideout
Trent DesLauriers leads the team in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns on the season.
He has set new career-highs in season marks for catches (43) and receiving yards (502) and receiving touchdowns (4).
He has also already set career-highs for receptions and yards in a game on September 5th against Winona State when he went for seven catches and 96 receiving yards.
TOMMY BOY: Northern State junior kicker
Thomas Parrott, a junior from Tampa, Fla. was named to the Fred Mitchell Award Watch List prior to the 2009 season.
Parrott earned October recognition from the Fred Mitchell Award this week after he made 5 of his last 6 FG's in October including10 points in the October 10 game against the University of Mary…. he is second on team with 40 points from 19 of 20 PAT's and 7 of 11 FG's averaging 59 yards in 39 kickoffs….Fellowship of ChristianAthletes….volunteer Chemistry tutor to Northern State students….participated in the United Way and Northern State University Day of Champions event to assist with various community service projects in the Aberdeen area.
Parrott also doubles as the team's punter, and is averaging 39.36 yards per punt on the season, a figure that places him 26th nationally and second in the NSIC. This season he has 42 punts for 1,653 yards, and he has dropped 14 of those punts inside the opponents 20-yard line.
YA HURD ME?: Junior linebacker
Chris Hurd was named NSIC Defensive Player of the Week last week. The 6-0, 200-pounder spearheaded the Wolves defensive effort in their 23-0 shutout of MSU Moorhead with seven tackles (all solo) and two of the team's five sacks. He also recorded three tackles for loss and an interception on the night and is now tsecond on the team with 67 tackles.
He leads the team with eight tackles for loss, five sacks, and is tied for the team lead with three interceptions. He has also recorded three pass break ups and one forced fumble on the year.
It is the first Athlete of the Week award for his career.
As a team the Wolves recorded five sacks, three interceptions, two fumble recoveries, one blocked field goal, and 13 tackles for loss while holding the Dragons to a meager 63 rushing yards and 251 total yards in the win.
ALVAREZ ON THE TACKLE: Senior linebacker
David Alvarez was named NSIC Defensive Player of the Week on October 5th after recording a game-high 12 tackles and two interceptions in the Wolves' 34-17 win over Minnesota, Crookston last week. It was the Soquel, Calif. native's first Athlete of the Week award in his career.
TURNOVER BATTLE: The Wolves are currently tied for second in the NSIC with 27 takeaways on the year, including 20 in the last five games. NSU is 2-3 in those games and in their 0-5 start to the year, the Wolves had a -6 turnover ratio.
The Wolves are 2-2 when winning the turnover battle, 0-4 when losing the turnover battle, and 0-2 when the battle is tied.
Northern State University is an NCAA Division II affiliated school participating in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and is located in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
