Sophomore Megan Gilbraith totaled 143 assists in the two-day tournament

Wolves Start 2008 Season at 4-0

Las Vegas, Nev. - Northern State University upped its 2008 season-opening winning streak to four games with wins over Newman University and Oregon Tech Saturday, at the Las Vegas Blast Tournament in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Wolves are now 4-0 to start 2008.

Set one saw a rematch with Newman University, a team the Wolves beat in three-straight matches by a final score of 3-0 in the first day's action. The second time around was tougher and more competitive, as both teams won two matches to even the score at 2-2 before Northern prevailed with a 15-7 win to take the set 3-2.

Northern State was once again led by Kelsey Aden in kills with 19, followed by Kayla Ysteboe and Jill Rasmussen with nine a piece. Megan Gilbraith once again paced the offense with her 42 assists and libero Stephanie Nygaard collected 23 digs, tops among her team.

Against Oregon Tech, Northern swept the three matches by scores of 25-16, 26-24, and 25-11.

Aden led in kills with 13, followed by Ysteboe with eight, and Whitney Morsching with five. Gilbraith added 29 assists, bringing her two-day total to 143. Nygaard once again led the team with ten digs, followed by Gilbraith with nine and Ysteboe with eight.

The Wolves are back in action on September 11th, as they travel to Dickinson, N.D. to take on Dickinson State. The game is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m.

Northern State University is an NCAA Division II member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) and is located in Aberdeen, S.D.
