Dakota State Takes Two Wins

MADISON, S.D. - Dakota State's softball team (8-19) took two wins in a Tuesday doubleheader played in Madison, S.D.  The Wolves (2-23) gave up scores of 8-0 and 8-1 to the Trojans.  They will play at the University of Mary on Thursday and are slated to host Minnesota, Crookston on Saturday.

The Trojans had 14 hits and scored in all but one inning in game 1.  Similarly, they came up with 13 hits in game 2 through their six innings of at-bats to take the day's sweep.  The Wolves were held to five hits in the first game and left seven runners on base in the shutout.  They performed well in the first inning of the second game, coming up with two hits and a sacrifice fly to get on the board. 

Kaylee Johnson tallied hits in both games, marking two singles and a stolen base in game 1 and a single in game 2 and scored the only run of the day.  Veronica Kelly singled for the team's RBI.  Christi Schulte pitched four innings and had five strikeouts in game one.  Breanna Milnes pitched the complete second game loss, ringing up nine batters and not allowing a walk.
