WAYNE, Neb. - The Northern State softball team failed to score a run in the second day of competition at the NSIC crossover. They were outscored 32-0 in two games played Sunday afternoon. Concordia-St. Paul defeated NSU 10-0 and event host Wayne State smothered the team with a 22-0 win, both games ending after five innings. Northern (2-21, 0-5 NSIC) looks to pick up a few wins in Madison, SD on Tuesday as they face Dakota State in a doubleheader.

Northern's best chance at a scoring opportunity came in the second inning against the Golden Bears (15-8, 4-0 NSIC).
Breanna Milnes got on base due to a fielding error and eventually made her way to third base before getting caught in a hot box trying to score. The team had two other runners advance to third base, including
Kaylee Johnson, who led off the third inning with a double to right center field.
The game was manageable until the third inning, when CSP's Bjorlin knocked a three-run homer over the fence to give the Golden Bears a 4-0 lead. They tacked on six more runs in the fourth inning after coming up with five hits.

All of the runs scored in the game against Wayne State College (18-15, 4-3 NSIC) came in the first two innings. The Wildcats had ten hits in the first inning and combined that with an NSU error and five walks on their way to 15 runs. They tagged on seven more runs in the second inning to go up 22-0. Northern was held hitless through five innings of play. Milnes completed the final 2.2 innings of work from the rubber, giving up only four hits and not allowing a run.
