FAYETTE, Iowa - The Wolves baseball team (4-18, 2-12 NSIC) had an offensive eruption in a 13-10 win over Upper Iowa on Sunday afternoon. They dropped the second game of the doubleheader 11-1. Northern is scheduled to host Mayville State on Wednesday.

Aaron Kappes went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Wolves in game 1, knocking out a double and a homerun and also getting on base with two walks. He scored three runs and tallied three RBIs in the game. The Wolves had a season high 14 hits and 13 runs to gain the win, scoring in all but the fifth inning.
The Peacocks used nine hits for their ten runs, also walking three times and getting on base with four hit batters. The UIU pitching staff gave up six walks while striking out five.
Tyler Bauman pitched the final 3.2 innings for the Wolves; he did not forfeit a run and gave up only one hit in the final three innings of work.
Tom Keiser drove in two RBIs for Northern, one in the first inning with a sacrifice fly and knocking a solo homerun in the seventh inning.
Mitch Locke went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and a sacrifice bunt, driving in two runs in the game.

The Wolves out-hit the Peacocks 6 to 4 in the second game, but three NSU errors, nine walks and four hit batsmen gave Upper Iowa plenty of opportunities to score. The Peacocks scored four runs in their first two at-bats and seven runs in their final two, with all four hits coming in these innings.
Northern State scattered their hits through the first three innings, but were able to cross only one runner over the plate.
Adam Kampsen drove in
Andrew Lunsetter with a single down the right field line in the third inning. NSU's six hits came from six different batters.
Nathan Zacher took the loss.
