NSU VS. CSP BOX SCORE
NSU VS. WSU BOX SCORE

BISMARCK
, N.D. – Northern State's softball team finished their second meetings with the NSIC south teams today at the crossover event in Bismarck. The team (4-17, 1-11 NSIC) took two more losses, falling 4-0 to Concordia-St. Paul and 9-2 to Winona State.

Northern opened the day against some fierce wind gusts, affecting their fielding ability. They gave up a game-opening walk and fielding error to Concordia-St. Paul's one and two batters. Both players came around to score to put the Golden Bears up 2-0 after one at-bat. Another CSP lead-off batter came around to score as a result of an error in the second inning for a 3-0 lead. The Wolves tightened up the defense and put together three 1-2-3 innings and two innings where they only faced four batters to complete the game. The Golden Bears' final score of the game came in the fifth inning and was also unearned.

The NSU bats were relatively quiet in the game. They had three hits and walked three times, getting runners in scoring position four times throughout the contest. Jamie Horner walked and doubled in the game. Christi Schulte struck out four batters and allowed only four hits to Concordia.

The Wolves challenged the Warriors of Winona State (28-12, 14-4 NSIC) through four innings of work in their last game of the weekend. A WSU solo homer in the second inning was the only mark on the board through three innings. The Warriors went up 3-0 with two earned runs in the fourth, but the Wolves came back to answer in the bottom of the frame.

Brianna Conrad led off the Northern fourth with a double to right center field. She was followed by the weekend's big slugger, Jamie Horner. Horner dropped a ball over the left center fence to draw her team to within a single run, 3-2. Unfortunately for the Wolves, the Warriors put together a big fifth inning to go up 7-2 and finished the day with a 9-2 win.

The Wolves once again placed three hits in the field, while the Warriors scattered 14 knocks for their nine runs. Breanna Milnes took the loss, giving up seven earned runs while striking out three.

The Wolves are scheduled to make their 2008 home debut on Tuesday, hosting the University of Mary starting at 2:00 p.m. at Moccasin Creek Field.
