ABERDEEN, S.D. - The Northern State Wolves softball team spent the last week in Kissimmee and Orlando, Florida playing ten games over five days, finishing with a record of 2-8. Offensively, the Wolves were led by Lindsey Cegla and Jamie Horner who hit .280 and .250, respectively. Defensively the Wolves struggled, committing fourteen errors to their opponents' nine. NSU is now 2-14 on the year.

NSU vs. South Dakota

NSU vs. Minnesota Duluth
On the first day of the tournament, the Wolves struggled, losing the first game to South Dakota by a score of 9-1. South Dakota jumped out early against the Wolves scoring five runs in the first inning. Northern was only able to get three hits in the game. The second game of the day was against Minnesota Duluth; however the Wolves had the same result. Only able to get four hits, the Wolves gave up all the runs in the first two innings, squandering three in the first and six in the second.

NSU vs. Georgian Court

The second day of the tournament, Northern played hard but came up just short. The Wolves lost to Philadelphia University by a score of 3-2. Both Lindsey Cegla and Kaylee Johnson led the way for the Wolves with two hits apiece. In the second game of the day, the Wolves were unable to hang with Georgian Court, losing 10-1.

The third day of competition in Florida saw them first play Caldwell College, losing a close game by the score of 5-2. Christi Schulte and Sarah Curley drove in the two Wolves runs and Breanna Milnes pitched seven innings, giving up four earned runs while striking out nine. Once again in the second game, the Wolves were unable to stay with Georgian Court, losing this game by a score of 8-0. Georgian Court was able to limit the Wolves to only three hits on the afternoon. 

NSU vs. Sourthern New Hampshire

NSU vs. William Woods 

The competition continued Thursday after a much deserved day off. The first game of the day saw the Wolves lose another close game, this time by the score of 2-0 to Southern New Hampshire. Christi Schulte pitched a solid game going all seven innings, giving up two runs on only five hits and striking out nine. The second game of the day, the Wolves got their first win of the tournament and of the season with a 7-4 victory over William Woods. The Wolves struck first in the third inning with a four run outburst with the big hit being a two-run single by Veronica Kelly. Breanna Milnes pitched another solid game going all seven innings, giving up only four runs on six hits and striking out four.

NSU vs. Holy Family
The competition closed on Friday Northern lost the first game of the day to UMass-Lowell by a score of 5-2. Breanna Milnes led the way for the Wolves, pitching all seven innings and giving up only three earned runs and striking out eight. With the bat, Milnes had two hits and drove in one of the Wolves two runs. The final game of the tournament ended with the Wolves second win of the tournament and the season, beating Holy Family in a close game, 2-1. Jill Sjoerdsma led the Wolves offense going 3-for-3 from the plate and Christi Schulte got the win on the mound. Schulte only gave up one run on three hits, striking out five.
