ST. CLOUD, Minn. - Northern State's softball team is playing in the HuskyDome Invite, hosted by St. Cloud State University.  The Wolves dropped a set of decisions in play on Saturday, falling to Concordia-St. Paul 3-5 and to St. Cloud State 13-0.

The Wolves lost a close non-conference game to Concordia-St. Paul 5-3 in their first game of the day. The Wolves faced tough pitching only getting one hit off CSP's Cassye McMahon. They scored three runs on one error and wild pitches by the Golden Bears.

The Wolves were able to take advantage in the top of the fourth after a Golden Bears error to tie the score with single by Samantha Francis, scoring Veronica Kelly from third. Unfortunately, CSP got the lead back in the bottom of the inning, capitalizing on two errors by the Wolves.

The Wolves struck back quickly in the top of the fifth with aggressive base running. Lindsey Cegla walked and advanced to second when Jamie Horner was hit by a pitch. Cegla went to third on a line out to the right field then she stole home. A wild pitch and passed ball later Horner followed her home, tying the game back up.

That was as far as the Wolves' would get, as their defense struggled overall. The team committed seven errors total. Luckily for the Wolves they didn't have long to dwell over the loss, they had to turn around and play St. Cloud State.

The second game didn't go as well for the Wolves as they surrendered 13 runs to SCSU. The Wolves were able to scatter 6 hits, but didn't have anything to show for it.   They continue play tomorrow morning against the University of Mary and North Dakota.
