GOLDEN, Colo. – The Northern State University women's basketball team got the 2008-2009 season up-and-running Saturday at the Colorado School of Mines tournament in Golden, Colorado. The Wolves fell to the host school by a score of 61-48.

As a team the Wolves shot 31.6% from the field on 18-57 shooting including 2-16 (12.5%) from three-point land. They also went 10-25 (40%) from the charity-stripe. They were also out-rebounded 45-31 in the low-scoring tilt. Northern only had 18 turnovers compared to the host team's 24, but the rim gremlins got the better of the Wolves as Mines shot 43% from the field in the win.
The Wolves were led by sophomore
Krista Rabenberg and newcomers
Jenna Higgins and
Mikayla Barondeau in the scoring department as each recorded nine points a piece.
Jodi Reinschmidt led the Wolves on the boards with three offensive and four defensive rebounds for a total of seven on the night, and she also had four of the team's ten steals.
Coach Fredrickson and the team will finish out the tournament tomorrow against Colorado Christian with a start time slated for 2:00 p.m. (Mountain Time).
