Warriors Derail Wolves 3-0

WINONA, Minn.- A team hitting percentage of .034 proved to be the doom of the Northern State University volleyball team Friday, as they lost to Winona State by a score of 3-0.  Set scores for the match were 18-25, 18-25, and 17-25.

Offensively, the most firepower by the Wolves came from Jill Rasmussen who led the way with 8 kills.  Whitney Morsching and Kayla Ysteboe each contributed six kills, while Morsching collected 4 blocks (2 solo) and Ysteboe garnered eight digs on the defensive end.  Megan Gilbraith shelled out 23 assists to go along with six digs, and Stephanie Nygaard led the defense with 23 digs.

The loss brings the Wolves to 1-6 in the NSIC and 9-7 overall on the year.  They have now lost six straight matches.

The Wolves continue their road-trip with a tilt against Upper Iowa University Saturday, in Fayette, Iowa with a start time slated for 5:00 p.m. Saturday.  The Peacocks are 8-8 overall and 1-5 in the NSIC previous to Friday's match vs. the University of Mary. 

On Thursday the Wolves return home to host “Spiking for a Cure” to promote Cancer Awareness on Wednesday against Mary. All money raised will be donated to the NSU campus Student/Athlete Relay for Life team.
