GRAND FORKS, N.D. -The Northern State volleyball team posted a five-game win over North Dakota and a four-game win over Chadron State College Friday at the UND Invite. Northern State is now 5-1 on the season and will play Dickinson State in play on Saturday.
Senior outside hitter
Emily Knaeble led all hitters against North Dakota with 18 kills in the match. The Wolves also received double figure kill performances by
Kelsey Aden (15),
Melanie Perez (15), and
Stephanie Perez (13).
Melanie Perez led the team with 29 of NSU's 90 digs.
Stephanie Perez and
Megan Gilbraith split the setting duties, dishing out 30 assists each.
Jill Rasmussen assisted in four blocks. The Wolves posted a higher hitting percentage than North Dakota in each won game.
UND also had four players finish in double figures for kills. They were led by Britta Hanson with 18 and Mary Blume 16. North Dakota had a successful match at the net, posting 12 blocks in the match. Tara Holmen had six block assists.
In their four-game win over Chadron State later in the day, the Wolves received 15 kills from three players, Aden, Knaeble, and
Melanie Perez. They posted ten team blocks in the match, including two solo blocks and four assisted blocks from Aden.
Blayne Olson notched a career high 34 digs in the match, leading the Wolves defense.
