Turnquist captured the 149-pound crown at the Midwest Classic with a 6-0 record. He scored 28.5 points, propelling the Wolves to a ninth place finish. The top ranked wrestler at his weight tallied two victories by fall and a technical fall on day one, advancing to the quarterfinals an a 7-5 win over No. 12 Dallas Wilson. He notched back-to-back major decisions on day two, kicked off by a 10-2 major over Ryan Moore in the semifinals. Turnquist won the championship with a 15-7 victory over No. 7 Jacob Ealy and improved to 11-1 on the year.
