Cody Hunt (R-Fr., Litchfield, Neb.) started his outdoor career off with a  huge performance in the shot put at the Wayne State Outdoor Classic on Friday.   Hunt, who finished eighth in the shot at the Division II Indoor Championships  last month to claim his first All-America certificate, won that event on Friday  with an NCAA automatic qualifying mark of 17.89 (58-08.50).  That mark leads the  national performance list by nearly a foot, and broke the previous NSU record of  58-00.50, set in 1965.  Hunt’s winning toss on Friday was more than 11 feet  better than the second place finisher.
