Nate Davis enters his fourth year at Northern State University in the fall of 2025. Davis is one of only five people to hold the Director of Athletics title in almost 70 years at NSU, following his 2022 hiring announcement.
The 2024-25 academic year saw the Northern State department continue their tradition of academic success with a department GPA above a 3.0 for the 33rd adn 34th straight semesters; marking 17 years in total. In addition, on the field of play, Northern saw 41 NSIC All-Conference performances, five NSIC Champions, and four All-Americans. Across all 15 athletic programs, 35 school records were broken by Wolves student-athletes.Â
In 2023-24, Northern State Athletics saw continued growth with seven NSIC individual champions crowned, four NCAA All-Americans, and over 30 NSIC All-Conference performers. Academically, Wolves student-athletes recorded department grade point averages above 3.0 in both the fall and spring, bring the consecutive semester total to 32.Â
In his first full year in the department, Northern recorded a number of athletic and academic accomplishments and milestones. Academically, the Wolves tallied their 30th consecutive semester (15th academic year) with a department GPA above and 3.0 and two student-athletes earned CSC Academic All-American®. Athletically, Northern State men's basketball and swimming's Lilly Grebner (100 IM, 200 IM, 400 IM, and 200 fly) won NSIC Championships, while 38 student-athletes earned NSIC All-Conference and seven garnered All-American accolades.Â
Prior to beginning his career at Northern State, Davis was the Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Pittsburg State University from 2017-22. At Pitt State, Davis oversaw events and operations, equipment, transportation and all PSU athletics facilities.

In 2018-19, Davis participated in the NCAA Pathways Program, which is designed to prepare athletic administrators for positions as directors of athletics or conference commissioners. The yearlong program accepts senior-level administrators across all three divisions.
In addition, Davis served within the Central Region at Northwest Missouri State University. He held the titles of Associate Athletic Director for Administration and Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing, Promotions & Licensing for the Bearcats.Â
In his roles at both Northwest Missouri State and Pittsburg State, Davis served as a member of the MIAA Basketball Championships Committee. In addition, Davis served as the chair for the committee in 2021-22, where he oversaw the direction of tournament operations and was in direct consultation with MIAA Commissioner Mike Racy.
A native of Salina, Kan., Davis also served as Assistant Director of Athletics for Operations at Southwest Baptist University from July 2005 to August 2008. He served as Assistant Athletic Director for Operations at Abilene Christian University from August 2008 to May 2010.

Davis earned a bachelor's of science degree in business administration with an emphasis in marketing and management from SBU in 2003. He earned a master of business administration (MBA) from SBU in 2005. Davis was also a member of the men's basketball team for the Bearcats.
Davis and his wife, Hannah, will reside in Aberdeen with their son, Tate.Â
