Pre-NSU: Kwat Abdelkarim is a 6-foot-3, 185-pound guard out of North Star High School and Des Moines Area Community College. As a prep, Abdelkarim was a 3-year starter and captain for the Gators, averaging double figures each year. He was a 2-time all-conference selection, as well as a Nebraska Super-State team member and all-city team honoree. Abdelkarim played at Skyline Prep in his final season, winning both the league overall and tournament championships. He spent one season at DMACC to open his collegiate career, averaging 10.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game. In addition, he shot 50.0% from the floor, 41.0% from the 3-point line, and 77.0% from the foul line. The Bears finished top-10 in the country and Abdelkarim was named to the all-region second team. He is the son of Abiol Mayen and Ashwok Nok.
