2014: Started all 11 games for Northern as a junior… Recorded 46 total tackles (28 solo), one of which for a loss… Tallied six punt returns for 85 yards, with a season high two returns for 49 yards versus St. Cloud State… 

2013: Made 10 starts and appeared in all 11 games … led the team with three interceptions … second on the squad with 59 total tackles … had two tackles-for-loss and six pass breakups on the year … returned five punts for 27 yards … had a season-high 13 tackles and a forced and recovered fumble against Upper Iowa (9/21)

2012: Played in 11 games for the Wolves... Had 15 tackles on the season with 8 solo stops... season high 7 tackles versus U-Mary...

2011: Redshirt Season

Prep: Schmidt is a 2-time 1,000-yard rusher for the Gettysburg High School Battlers, including a 1,896-yard senior season that saw him score 27 touchdowns on the ground and another through the air. For his efforts, he was named to the All-Yellowstone Trail Conference – his third such award – and All-State – his second – teams at the running back slot and was a member of the Argus Leader Elite 45 team. Schmidt was also a six-time state qualifier and three-time place winner at the South Dakota State B Wrestling Tournament, including a third place finish as the 2011 championships. He also earned state placings in track and field as a sophomore, junior and senior.
