Pre-NSU: John Werner is a 6-foot-3, 180-pound right-handed pitcher out of Burlington High School and Des Moines Area Community College. As a prep, Werner earned all-conference accolades, holding a 2.92 ERA in his senior campaign. At DMACC in 2017, Werner notched a 3.95 ERA as a starter for the squad. He is the son of Michael and Chris Werner.
