VOLUNTARY WORKOUT PROTOCOL FOR SOCCER

The following guidelines/steps will be followed by the Northern State Soccer program in regards to voluntary workouts on campus at the Athletic & Recreation Fields.
  1. As student-athletes wait to enter the field, they must be spaced at least 6-feet apart, maintaining social distancing guidelines.
  2. Student-athletes will scan their ID and enter the practice field through the Southwest gate [near the South Dakota School for the Blind and Visually Impaired].
  3. When the student-athlete arrives at the field and puts their belongings down, they will ensure that they do so at least 6 feet apart from the next student-athlete.
  4. Coaches will wear masks prior to, during, and following the workout.
    • Student-athletes are encouraged to wear masks during workout sessions outdoors and required to wear masks during all indoor workout sessions.
  5. Training groups will be small with activities put in place to ensure the athletes remain 6-feet apart.
  6. All equipment will be provided by the university and sanitized before, during, and after use.
    • Balls will be sanitized every 15 minutes or less (depending on the length of activity).
    • Equipment used by staff (i.e. cones, goals) will not be handled by athletes or other attendees.
  7. Student-athletes will not be permitted to touch the ball with their hands or their head, minimizing any risk of a bodily fluid getting on the ball.
  8. Student-athletes should avoid all physical contact with each other, including celebrations, handshakes, high-fives, etc.
  9. Student-athletes will be required to bring their own water bottle to each workout.
  10. Student-athletes will exit the fields after their workout through the Southeast gate of the practice facility, keeping a safe 6-foot distance between themselves and coaches, maintaining social distancing guidelines.
