2016: Finished eleventh at the Herb Blakely Invite with a time of 20:04.0 (5k)… had a season best of 26:21.0 (6k) at the Roy Griak Invitational… Redshirt Season…

Track and Field

2016-17: Recorded personal bests in the 800m (2:25.89), 1000m (3:07.80), 1500m (5:02.59), and mile (5:25.13)… Won the 800m at the Cobber Duals… Was a member of the first place 4x800m relay team at the Sioux City Relays…

Prep: Sami is a cross country and track runner for the Aberdeen Central Golden Eagles.  Shields placed tenth this fall at the ESD Conference cross country meet to help win the team title, and followed that up with a 20^th place finish at state. In 2013 she earned the most improved award and was also named All-ESD and All-State in 2015. Sami and the Golden Eagles are also three time ESD track Champions and the 2015 State Runners-Up, where she ran in the 1600m run, 4x800 and sprint medley relays. Shields also participates in basketball for Aberdeen Central.
