Hunter is from Monticello, MN and attended Monticello High School. He is majoring in Chemistry.

2013
Outdoors: Improved his 5k personal best to 15:15 during the Kip Janvrin Twilight meet. He won the 5000m with a time of 15:56.60. He holds personal bests of 2:03.93 in the 800, 15:15.80 in the 5000m and 4:06.53 in the 1500m.
Indoor: Ran 15:35 in the 5k during the indoor conference championship to improve his indoor personal best

2012
Indoor: ran 4:06 in the 1500m at the Sioux Falls Invite. Won the Doane Relays 5k with a time of 15:53. He also won the doane relays with a time 15:54.40 in the 5000m
