MARSHALL, Minn. – Northern State dropped two games against Southwest Minnesota State this afternoon, losing 7-4 in the first game and 9-0 in the second game.

The Wolves notched four runs on seven hits, three RBIs, three doubles, one error, 18 putouts, 10 assists and three strikeouts from the mound in their 7-4 loss to the Mustangs
SMSU struck paydirt early, plating two runs in the bottom of the second
With runners on every bag, Ramsey Hopp sent a shot to the right side for a two-RBI single, bringing in two runners to start the day
In the very next inning, the Wolves would tie the game, with
Dessa Bryant bringing in
Madi Jones off a double before a
Kennedy Boyer single to center and an error brought her home from second
But the tie didn't last long as the Mustangs chalked two more in the bottom of the second
Kinsley Stover brought the game within one in the fourth after sending a pitch up the middle, and a Boyer double sent her around the bases
In the next inning,
Alicia Jeanson started the fifth, forcing a walk on a full count
Jeanson would score a couple of at-bats later off a wild pitch to tie the game at 4-4
After a three-run fifth inning, the Mustangs would take game one, 7-4

Northern recorded two hits, one double, 12 putouts, 10 assists and one strikeout on the mound in their 9-0 loss to Southwest Minnesota State
Both teams held each other scoreless until the bottom of the third inning, when the Mustangs put their first of nine runs on the board with an RBI double from Riley Kramolisch
But it was in the fourth when the bats got hot for the Mustangs, scoring eight runs off six hits in the inning
Morgan Alar crossed the plate first for the Mustangs off a single from Grace Anderson, which led to the next three at-bats bringing in one run each
After Carley Stych scored to put SMSU up by six runs, Emma Humpal smacked a rocket over the left-field fence to record three RBIs on the second pitch of the at-bat
For the Wolves,
