WOLVES JUMP TO 3-1 AFTER JAMESTOWN TOURNAMENT

JAMESTOWN, N.D. – The Wolves left the Jamestown Tournament with a 3-1 record after downing both Providence (Mont.) and Minnesota State Moorhead in their games today. Between the two wins, the Wolves recorded 21 hits, 15 runs, 13 RBIs, five doubles, one triple and one home run while throwing 14 strikeouts.

HOW IT HAPPENED (UP)
  • The Wolves tallied 14 hits, ten runs, three walks, two doubles, one triple and one home run while earning ten strikeouts and batting a .424 average in the game
  • After zero runs were scored in the first two innings, both the Wolves and Argos kicked things into gear, tallying five total runs in the third
  • At the top of the third, Hailey Cota recorded a triple to right field after Kinsley Stover's hit was snagged in center for the first out of the inning
  • After Alicia Jeanson popped out in the infield, Aune Boben sent the ball over the fence in right-center to bring both her and Cota home to take a two-run lead
  • Providence (Mont.) responded its next time at the plate, taking a 3-2 lead heading into the fourth.
  • After flying out in the third, Jeanson responded with a two-RBI single to send both Stover and Sydney Anderson home
  • After a Jeanson stolen base, both Jeanson and Cota stood in scoring position for Tevan Bryant to send them both home on a double

HOW IT HAPPENED (MSUM)
  • After three Dragon flyouts in the top of the first, Jones sent Boben home on an RBI double to left, but Jones was thrown out at home during the next at-bat on a Tevan Bryant single
  • Northern State tacked on three more in the third with an Emma Owens sacrifice fly to right, while Boben came in for a score
  • Three at-bats later, a double to right from Stover brought in both Brooke Wolf and Jones to jump to a 4-0 lead at the bottom of the third
  • The Dragons punched in two in the fourth on two RBI singles
  • Tevan Bryant put the nail in the coffin with a single to center for Jeanson to earn her first run of the game and her third run of the day
  • Though Minnesota State Moorhead would tack on two more runs, one in the fifth and one in the sixth, it would not be enough, and the Wolves tallied their third win in four games
