WOLVES MAKE NOISE ON DAY ONE OF THE NSIC INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIP

Mankato, Minn. – The Northern State University track and field team took to action on day one of the NSIC Indoor Championships Friday. The Wolves recorded eight personal records, five provisional marks, three individual conference championships, and one school record on day one. In addition, five Wolves qualified for the Saturday finals races. The NSU men sit tied for third with 24 points, while the women are in third with 27.33 points.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED FOR THE MEN
  • Eli Radtke downed the Northern State school record in the pole vault, en route to the first NSIC Championship of his career, clearing 5.08m; his mark ranks 22nd in the country
  • Jayden Munroe won the first indoor conference championship of his career in the long jump with a school record and provisional mark of 7.44m; he currently ranks ninth in the nation following the finish
  • Jeffery Boschee stands in fourth in the men's heptathlon with 2790 total points at the end of day one with marks of 7.52 in the 60m hurdles, 6.48m in the long jump, 11.99m in the shot put, and 1.98m in the high jump
  • Jackson Willis enters day two in sixth with 2,701 points, recording marks of 7.60 in the 60m, 6.80m in the long jump, 11.89m in the shot put, and 1.83m in the high jump
  • Elias Londahl rounds out the top-8 through the first day of the heptathlon with 2,683 points and marks of 7.56 in the 60m, 6.82m in the long jump, 10.46m in the shot put, and 1.89m in the high jump
  • Rudi May followed in fifth overall in the pole vault with a 4.78m jump, earning four team points for the Wolves
  • Chris Weber advances to the finals of the 60m with the top prelims time of 6.76, a season best for the senior
  • Drew Salfrank will race the 400m finals, recording a time of 49.41, the seventh fastest of the day in preliminary events
 
HOW IT HAPPENED FOR THE WOMEN
  • The top two spots in the women's pole vault went to Wolves with Bekah Walz claiming the NSIC Championships with a jump of 3.96m, and Romane Maugest earning All-Conference honors in second with a 3.91m; both women cleared the NCAA provisional standard
  • Tied for second in the high jump was Tayla Dobrenski with a 1.66m mark, landing the junior NSIC All-Conference accolades
  • Alexa Fender scored team points in the long jump with a 5.73m mark in sixth overall
  • Crossing the finish line in 1:37.18 in the 600m was Anna Skachenko, running the third fastest prelims time as she heads to the Saturday finals
  • Renea Taylor qualified for the finals races in the 60m prelims with a time of 7.58 in fourth and the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.72 in fifth
 
BEYOND THE RESULTS
  • Four men recorded a personal best today; Greyson Schuetzle's 60m hurdles 8.60 time, Turner Thorson in the 600m (1:23.19), Ty Kadlec's 6.99 time in the 60m, and Easton Klatt in the 1000m with a 2:37.82 time
  • Four women set personal records on the day; Julia Skari in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.07 and Walz, Maugest, and Liz Dunham in the pole vault (3.96m, 3.91m, and 3.46m respectively)
 
UP NEXT
The Wolves return for day two of the NSIC Indoor Championships Saturday, February 28. Day two is set to start at 9 a.m. with the women's pentathlon 60m hurdles.
