MEN TAKE FIRST, WOMEN FINISH SECOND AT WINTER CLASSIC

Bismarck, N.D. – The Northern State University track and field team participated in the UMary Winer Classic Saturday. The Wolves had eight first-place finishers and 26 top-3 placers.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED FOR THE MEN
  • The men finished first overall at the UMary Winter Classic with 160 points; 63 points ahead of second place
  • Chris Weber took first in the men's 60m, setting a season best time of 6.86
  • The 400m saw Drew Salfrank take the lead with a 50.32, followed by Drew Henriksen in third with a time of 51.30
  • The Wolves dominated the men's 600m, taking all top-3 spots; Turner Thorson (1:25.71), Carter Dingman (1:25.93), and Gracen Hansen (1:26.19)
  • The same happened in the 5000m with Taylor Thorson coming in first (16:30.52), Patrick Severson taking second (16:37.95), and Christian Wells finishing third (17:39.81)
  • A distance of 14.65m in the triple jump earned Jayden Munroe first and a provisional mark; Munroe also reached 7.10m in the long jump, taking second place
  • Rudi May and Eli Radtke secured the top spots in the men's pole vault clearing 4.78m, May setting a personal record
  • The team of Henriksen, Geoffrey Mannino, Hansen, and Dingman took second in the 4x400m with a time of 3:25.80
  • In the high jump, Dylan Hoot placed third with mark of 2.01m
 
BEYOND THE RESULTS
  • Nine men added personal bests on the day; Matthew Rogers (8.65) and Greyson Schuetzle (8.94) in the 60m hurdles, Zach Terrio with a time of 2:04.71 in the 800m, Jeff Boschee' shot put mark of 10.68m, and Chanden Nieman, Kaden St Pierre, Ross Kortenbusch, and Gunner Watson in the weight throw with 15.46m, 14.63m, 13.30m, and 10.15m respectively
 
HOW IT HAPPENED FOR THE WOMEN
  • The women came in second overall at the Winter Classic with 98.5 points
  • Renea Taylor topped the standings in the 200m with a time of 25.02
  • Taylor also placed first in the 400m, crossing the finish line at 58.40, followed by Kali Norton who took second at 1:00.74
  • Taking second in the pole vault was Bekah Walz with her mark of 3.60m
  • The team of Norton, Julia Skari, Elisabet Osk Jonsdottir, and Payton Kemnitz came in second in the women's 4x400m
  • Women's weight throwing saw Brooke Mushatt finish in second with a throw of 16.36m
  • In the 60m hurdles, Morgan Sheldon ran a 9.33, earning third
  • Alexa Fender jumped her way to third place with a mark of 5.28m in the long jump
  • Tayla Dobrenski tied for third in the women's high jump, clearing 1.59m
