Weber, Walz and Men's 4x4 Hit National Provisional Marks from Brookings

Brookings, S.D. – In the second day of action from the SDSU D2/NAIA Open the Northern State University track and field teams earned 27 top-10 finishes. In addition, the Wolves broke four indoor school records and hit three NCAA provisional marks.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED FOR THE MEN
  • Eli Radtke finished second in the heptathlon with 4,721 points, notching marks of 7.21 in the 60m (personal best), 6.48m in the long jump (personal best), 11.74m in the shot put, and 1.90m in the high jump (personal best), 8.60 in the 60m hurdles (personal best), 4.50m in the pole vault, and 3:41.21 in the 1000m
  • Sean Juengst and Jeffrey Boschee took sixth and seventh in the heptathlon with point totals of 4, 373 and 4.360 respectively
  • Juengst recorded marks of 7.78 in the 60m, 5.91m in the long jump, 10.82 in the shot put (personal best), and 1.84m in the high jump, 9.77 in the 60m hurdles, 4.10m in the pole vault (personal best), and 2:50.99 in the 1000m (personal best)
  • Boschee tallied marks of 7.65 in the 60m, 5.93m in the long jump (personal best), 9.56m in the shot put, and 1.96m in the high jump, 9.48 in the 60m hurdles, 3.50m in the pole vault, and 2:49.41 in the 1000m (personal best)
  • For the second straight week, Chris Weber hit the national provisional mark and broke his own school record in the 60m with a time of 6.77 in second overall
  • Julian Scott finished fifth in the qualifying round of the 60m with a time of 7.05
  • Seth Martens and Drew Salfrank ran season bests in the 400m, finishing eighth and ninth with times of 49.35 and 49.43 respectively
  • Carter Dingman rounded out the top-10 of the 600m with a season best time of 1:23.63
  • Lincoln Woodring finished eighth in the 800m with a new personal best time of 1:56.55
  • Nathan Alto won the 3000m with a time of 8:33.30, while Jonathan Burkhalter placed sixth with a time of 8:38.24
  • Jayden Munroe and Treyson Schulz took fifth and ninth in the long jump with marks of 6.84m and 6.38m respectively
  • Sam Tremelling won the pole vault, clearing 4.70m
  • Munroe and Schulz were back in action in the triple jump, taking second and fourth with jumps of 14.26m and 13.04m; Munroe's mark broke the school record that was set in 1982 and tied again in 2006
  • The 4x400m relay team of Salfrank, Dingman, Joel Matehs, and Martens closed out the day with a third place finish in the event, crossing the finish line in a new school record and NCAA provisional mark of 3:15.81
 
HOW IT HAPPENED FOR THE WOMEN
  • Renea Taylor took fourth in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.39; she also ran a prelims time of 9.03 in the event
  • Anna Skachenko finished third in the 600m with a personal best of 1:39.50
  • Another school record fell in the 800m for Summer Carlson who crossed the finish line in 2:17.41, taking fourth; she bested the 2022 mark set by Jennifer Clark
  • Emaleigh Olesiak rounded out the top-10 of the 3000m with a time of 10:54.17
  • Three Wolves finished in the top-10 of the pole vault, led by event winner Bekah Walz with a new personal best and NCAA provisional mark of 3.75m
  • Romane Maugest took fourth in her first competition of the season, clearing 3.45m, while Gitte Bellemans took eighth with a 3.30m vault
  • Elisabet Osk Jonsdottir and Kamryn Schwartz placed fourth and ninth in the triple jump with marks of 10.71m and 10.20m
  • The 4x400m relay team of Skachenko, Alli Jackson, Jonsdottir, and Carlson closed out the meet for the Wolves with a ninth place finish in 4:02.85
 
UP NEXT
The Wolves return to action Friday and Saturday, February 14 and 15 back in Brookings. They will take part in the SDSU Classic from the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex. Events begin at 4 p.m. on Friday and 12 p.m. on Saturday.
